KATIE Couric appears to have benefited from the McCain campaign’s disdain for NBC News – the last-place rated “CBS Evening News” has landed the second network interview with Sarah Palin.
The choice of Couric over top-rated “Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams is a clear snub of NBC which has angered Republicans, primarily because of the active support for Barack Obama by MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann.

Couric is slated to spend two days on the road with the Republican vice presidential candidate and presidential hopeful John McCain. The material she gathers will be aired Sept. 29 and 30 on the “CBS Evening News” and “The Early Show” – just before the Oct. 2 vice presidential debate between Palin and Democrat Joe Biden.
ABC’s Charlie Gibson had the first in-depth network interview with Palin last week, but his handling of the interview has angered some critics who claim he led Palin into a series of “gotcha” questions.
