MARTHA SNUBS DAYTIME EMMYS

DOMESTIC diva Martha Stewart won’t be throwing herself an Emmy party this year – since she didn’t bother to submit her show for consideration.

For the first time since 1995, Stewart has removed herself from competition for a Daytime Emmy. Nominations were announced yesterday on “The View.”

Typically, such a move is reserved for Oprah Winfrey, who years ago decided it was unfair for her to contend for an Emmy, since she always won (Stewart hasn’t won since 2005).

Instead, Sheraton Kalouria, the president of broadcasting at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia – which produces “The Martha Stewart Show” – attributed the show’s lack of a Daytime Emmy submission to the nature of Stewart’s show.

“Because there was no current category that addresses the unique hybrid format of our series, we elected not to submit this year,” Kalouria said in a statement.

Meanwhile, CBS garnered 36 nominations, with ABC receiving 39 nods, including seven for “The View,” which has won only once for Best Show.

“It’s the old bias of single-host shows,” says Tom O’Neil, columnist for awards site theenvelope.com.

“The multiple-host shows usually get [cheated]. An Emmy is like extending a hug to a colleague and it’s easier to hug one person than a group.”

The awards will air June 20 on ABC.
