COOKOUT INDOORS BURNS BOY

An 8-year-old boy burned during a Manhattan children’s party was the victim of a tragic indoor campout.

David Kavee, son of dentist Rhonda Kavee, was burned over 70 percent of his body Friday when someone threw flammable liquid onto a charcoal grill, which was pulled into a room in his mother’s dental office so the kids could grill s’mores.

Police had filed no charges in the case yesterday, as they searched the dentist’s East 36th Street office.

The youngster, meanwhile, was listed in critical but stable condition at Cornell Medical Center yesterday.

“It’s such a shock right now. This is the last thing I would expect,” said Kavee’s office manager, Joseline Rivera, 33. “But I don’t know how he got burned.”

Kavee was throwing a pizza party for her son in a small courtyard outside her first-floor office, staffers said.

The heavy rain Friday night, however, forced them inside.

At some point, a small grill was brought in, filled with charcoal and ignited so that could roast marshmallow, chocolate and graham-cracker treats.

Someone threw a large amount of flammable liquid on the fire, burning the boy standing too near.
