‘Home’ mom’s tragic ending

Two years after getting a huge, custom-built house on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover Home Edition,” a big-hearted, single mom has died from complications following surgery.

Sabrena Jones, 47, became famous from her appearance on the hit TV show because she had been predicting to friends for several years that “God is going to build me a mansion” — and, with the help of the show, he did,

Jones. a licensed practical nurse, died in the hospital where she’d worked in Bradon, Miss.

The type of surgery she’d undergone was not specified but doctors said she died three days later from heart and lung failure.

She was buried over the weekend.

She leaves behind two college-age children and a 12-year-old son.

In 2007, the program decided to rebuild Jones’ dilapidated home — which had no heat or working bathrooms — after learning that she’d been running a vast clothing-donation operation for victims of Hurricane Katrina from there.

When “Extreme Makeover” replaced it with a $450,000 Tudor-style house, people in the neighborhood sank a sign on the lawn that read, “God did it,” to honor her long-time premonition.
