BLOOMBERG PAYS TRIBUTE TO MICHAEL JACKSON

Count Mayor Bloomberg among the legions of fans stunned by the sudden death of Michael Jackson.

“I will always be listening to his music,” the mayor declared today before jumping into a Harlem pool, an annual ritual that opens the Parks Department’s swim season.

The music playing from the loudspeaker as the mayor approached the water at the Jackie Robinson Recreation Center on West 146th Street was the Jackson hit, “Don’t Stop ‘Till You Get Enough.”

“In the car on the way uptown I was listening to the music of Michael Jackson,” Bloomberg told reporters. “It’s very sad. He was idolized by many New Yorkers both young and old and like everyone everywhere we’re just stunned and saddened by his death.

“I think it’s fair to say he really was a one-of-a-kind music talent and I just want his family and loved ones to know that New Yorkers are thinking of them and that the king of pop will always be remembered here in the entertainment capital of the world and I will always be listening to his music.”
