UES ATTACK TOLL GROWS

A gang of young thugs is being sought for as many as six bashings on the Upper East Side, including three assaults on gay men, The Post has learned.

Police yesterday confirmed the three hate-crime incidents that began on May 31 in Carl Schurz Park near Gracie Mansion, where two men were robbed by about five hoodlums.

The second assault occurred last Saturday at East 85th Street near East End Avenue, where Joseph Holladay, 36, of Boston, was robbed and pistol-whipped by the goons, who spewed anti-gay remarks.

The next day, a 40-year-old man walking from the 86th Street subway station was beaten at East 84th Street and Second Avenue.

Three other attacks — for which details were not immediately available — are believed to be the handiwork of the same four to six young white men, according to state Assemblyman Micah Kellner of the 65th District, which covers the Upper East Side.
