Letterman: He’s no victim

Thank you, Andrea Peyser, for your column, “Dump Depraved Dave Now, CBS!” (Oct. 5).

You say what needs to be said, and you make clear what most of the mass media have twisted and obscured: David Letterman is not the victim here.

I hope you get your wish.

Just who does Peyser think she is, calling for CBS to dump Letterman?

Letterman is funnier and more entertaining than anyone on TV.

Who cares what consenting adults do?

Peyser is totally off base. Letterman is not an elected official, so whatever he does in his private life does not matter to anyone but his wife.

Letterman handled this in an amazingly classy way. Unlike a certain former president, who could not help but lie about his affair, Letterman was honest, direct and, of course, funny.

Letterman has always been the first one to poke fun at himself, and I suspect he will deal with this painful admission by continuing to make himself the butt of his own jokes.

Despite Peyser’s call for his head, I think his career will not be affected by this. His marriage may be another story, but at least he takes responsibility for getting caught.

I hope everything works out for him.

This may ruin Letterman’s career.

How can he make his usual snarky comments about senators in the bathroom or the bumbling Sarah Palin when he’s getting sexed up with his underlings?
