Tweety’s tall tale

Sen. Kirsten “Tweety Bird” Gillibrand is pretending that she led the fight to rid New York of the Khalid Sheik Mohammed terror trial. The senator was “among the first public officials to consider other locations,” says an aide.

Huh? Nearly three weeks ago, Julie Menin, chairwoman of Community Board 1 in Lower Manhattan, started raising Cain about what the trials would do to her area. Both Chuck Schumer and Gillibrand were silent about it until last week.

Tweety now says she waited to hear from Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.): “Based on [her] advice, I really believe that the trial should be moved.”

But here’s what Tweety is really saying: That she can’t make a decision on national security that impacts the biggest city in her home state — without a green light from a California senator.

And that’s after a red flag from the head of a local community board.

Feinstein already has a job.

So why doesn’t Julie Menin run for Tweety’s?
