FITTY TO KEEP RAP SHUT

Bullet-magnet gangsta rapper 50 Cent won’t be performing at an upcoming neighborhood fair in his old stomping grounds of Jamaica, Queens, the mayor said yesterday.

“Our understanding after talking with 50 Cents [sic] is he has no plans to perform whatsoever. He might go, but he’s not going to perform,” Mayor Bloomberg said.

The mayor’s comments come after The Post reported exclusively that the NYPD was gearing up for potential mayhem because the notorious rapper planned to perform at the “Family Day” on Aug. 30 at the PS 40 schoolyard.

An ad touting the rapper’s performance had appeared on his Web site but was later taken down.

Law-enforcement sources said rank-and-file cops were still under the impression as late as Friday that he would be performing — and had yet to be told otherwise even as of yesterday.

The reformed crack dealer-turned-rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, often dons a bulletproof vest in public since being shot nine times in 2002 in front of his grandmother’s home just blocks from the school.

Police brass were worried that a rival or punk out to make a name for himself would try to shoot Fitty during the performance, sources said.

The New York Restoration Project, a nonprofit founded by Bette Midler, is sponsoring the family-day event, along with the G-Unity Foundation.

Fitty will bus neighborhood children to his performance at Six Flags amusement park in New Jersey on Aug. 29.
