Little did the Liberty know that when it opened the season with a 66-57 home loss to the Connecticut Sun, it was the beginning of the end — almost. The Libs lost their next two games and have yet to recover from an 0-3 start.
The Liberty (9-15) finally get a rematch with the Sun tonight in Connecticut. A loss may not mathematically end the team’s playoff chances, but only a fool would think otherwise. The Liberty, fresh off a 60-59 win in Washington, hasn’t won two straight since mid July.
“We’ve been in so many close ones it was nice to be in one that finally went our way,” said coach Anne Donovan. “We have to build on that. Every game is critical for us.” –
