Rangers’ Gaborik out 2-4 weeks, Drury 4-8

The Rangers, already missing Vinny Prospal, who will undergo a knee cleanup surgery on Tuesday, last night lost Marian Gaborik for 2-4 weeks with a shoulder separation and Chris Drury for double that to a re-broken finger.

But they called up nobody for yesterday’s or today’s practice because coach John Tortorella is confident center Erik Christensen, who nursed a groin problem Friday night after playing the first two games, will be in the lineup tomorrow night against Colorado.

“He went through the whole practice, felt much better today,” said Tortorella. “Unless somebody tells me something different in the next hour or two, he’s healthy.

Thirty minutes earlier, Christensen indeed had told reporters something different.

“I’m not going to jeopardize my health in the long run by saying, ‘Just go Monday. Who cares, play through it, whatever,’” Christensen said. “I’m still worried about getting into footraces blue line to blue line and having to go all out. If it gets worse, I’ll be out longer than expected.”
