TLC to air ‘Sarah Palin’s Alaska’ TV show

Former Alaska governor Sarah Sarah is getting some TLC from yet another cable network.

TLC announced today that it will air an eight-part documentary series — called “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” — about her home state.

Network owner Discovery Communications announced it had acquired rights to the series, which is being produced by Mark Burnett, who is famous for his involvement in the hit TV reality show “Survivor.”

The series tells stories of some of Alaska’s unique features as seen through the eyes of its former governor, TLC said.

Discovery reportedly won a competition for the series with the A&E Networks.

There is no immediate word on when it will premiere.

TLC gained attention last year for the reality show “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ as the marriage of the show’s two stars crumbled in what turned out to be a rating bonanza.

The deal, meanwhile, is the latest TV package for Palin since she resigned as governor last year.

Since then, the former vice-presidential nominee also signed on as a contributor to Fox News, where she works as a pundit and routinely weighs in on political issues during the news channel’s evening line-up.

TLC did not disclose the terms of the Palin deal.

“TLC is grounded in great storytelling, strong characters and passionate audiences drawn to extraordinary people doing extraordinary things,” Eileen O’Neill, president and general manager of TLC said in a statement. “We are confident ‘Sarah Palin’s Alaska’ will be another compelling television event.”

Earlier this month, publisher HarperCollins said Palin was working on a new book about American virtues and strengths.

Her first book “Going Rogue,” sold a whopping 2.2 million copies.
