6.2 earthquake hits northern Chile

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck in the northern part of Chile Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake was measured at a depth of 36.7 miles (59 km) and the epicenter was located 380 miles (611 km) north of the capital city of Santiago.

No tsunami watch was issued.

In February, a massive 8.8-magnitude quake rocked the country and triggered a tsunami, killing 452 people.
