ACE PILOTS SHOT DOWN

EVEN the big boys get dissed once in a while. Showtime has rejected Tim Robbins’ pilot, “Possible Side Effects” — the same week it also passed on former “Friends” star Matthew Perry’s pilot, “The End of Steve.”

“Possible Side Effects” revolves around a dysfunctional family, which owns a powerful drug company — subject matter which might have made Showtime a bit antsy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ellen Burstyn, Josh Lucas and Tim Blake Nelson headlined “Side Effects,” which is expected to be shopped elsewhere.

“The End of Steve,” which would have been Perry’s first primetime show since “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” (2006), was produced by Peter Tolan (“Rescue Me“). It might also be shopped elsewhere.

Showtime also rejected “Ronna and Beverly,” the planned spinoff from “The L Word.”
