MISS SUBWAYS’ NOSTALGIA TRIP

Twenty-seven former Miss Subways took a ride down memory lane yesterday.

The state of the subways — and the $2 fare that will soon soar to $2.50 — was a hot topic among them at Ellen’s Stardust Diner, which is owned by 1959 Miss Subways Ellen Hart.

“The subway system is still a mess, and the MTA has a lot of nerve to want more money,” fumed Donna DeMarta, 66, a Miss Subways of 1966, one of the beauties whose posters brightened rides from 1941 to 1976.

1942 Miss Subways Dorthea Mate, 89, recalled a subway token then cost 5 cents.

“It cost a nickel to ride the subway or get a cup of coffee,” Mate said at Stardust Diner, where a cup of joe goes for $2.95.
