‘Nollywood’ bootleg bust

There’s no business like illegally copied Nigerian showbiz!

In a sting orchestrated by the Brooklyn DA’s Office, 10,000 illegally copied Nigerian movies were confiscated from Brooklyn bodegas, officials said yesterday.

This follows a complaint from “Nollywood,” the Nigerian hub that produces more feature films a year than Hollywood.

“I feel robbed!” said Jim Iyke, an actor considered the “Nigerian Tom Cruise.”

“You put so much work into these films, and someone makes money by making them in their basement.”

The bootleg copies sell for $3. Nigerian films pull in about $250 million a year in Africa and another $20 million in the United States, say movie execs.
