VOTE: Who’s to blame in the Jeter, Yankees contract standoff?

Derek Jeter is rich, but the Yankees can easily afford to make him richer than the three-year, $45 million deal that is reportedly on the table.

The fundamental difference seems to be that the Yankees want to pay Jeter like a 36-year old shortstop, who hit .270 last season with 10 home runs, 67 RBIs and whose defensive range is declining. Jeter wants to get paid like the iconic figure he has been in pinstripes in leading them to five World Series championships in his 16 years with the team.

Tell us who you think is to blame as talks deteriorate.
