Mike’s doggie treat

The stifling heat made al fresco dining an oppressive experience yesterday, but nothing could stop Mayor Bloomberg from sharing one of his favorite meals — a street hot dog — with British Prime Minister David Cameron.

The mayor greeted Cameron at Penn Station and promptly headed to a hot-dog stand to chow down.

Bloomberg told reporters earlier he was looking forward to giving Cameron a chance to sample the New York staple.

The mayor wasn’t as eager to pump the PM with questions about the release last year of Lockerbie bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi from British custody.

“Talk to the White House — they conduct foreign policy,” the mayor told a reporter who asked if he intended to raise the touchy topic.

“It would just be inappropriate for me to try to make the White House’s job more difficult. The president’s got a lot on his plate, and he doesn’t need me chiming in to influence that.”

Bloomberg and Cameron planned to wrap up the day with another meal together — a more refined private dinner on the Upper East Side.
