Teenage singing sensation Justin Bieber is set to guest-star in the 11th-season premiere of “CSI” this fall.
Bieber, 16, will play troubled teen Jason McCann, who makes a difficult decision regarding his brother, bringing him face-to-face with the “CSI” Las Vegas criminalists.
The events are the beginning of a story arc that will play out over the rest of the season, with Bieber returning several times.
Bieber’s appearances could be the ratings boost “CSI” needs — last season it averaged 15.8 million viewers, a dramatic drop from its 9th season average of 19 million viewers.
In the past, tapping teen pop stars for guest-starring roles has translated into big-time ratings for “CSI.” A March 2009 episode featuring Taylor Swift drew 21 million viewers.
