The jury in the corruption trial of former Ill. Gov. Rod Blagojevich told the judge Thursday it has reached a unanimous decision on only two of the 24 counts against the defendant, Fox News Channel reported.
In a note to the judge, they added they have not, in 11 days of deliberations, even started to debate the 11 counts of wire fraud against Blagojevich.
The jury reached out to U.S. District Judge James Zagel on Wednesday, sending a note saying they had reached an impasse and asked for guidance as to how they should proceed.
On Thursday, Zagel gave them additional instructions. He urged them to continue talks and to begin looking at the wire fraud charges.
He reiterated instructions he gave Wednesday that they needed to reach some conclusion and that it was “permissible” for them to reach a verdict on some counts and not others.
