Could Hoda replacing Curry open door for Reege?

Regis Philbin is waiting for a call from the “Today” show.

And with rumors swirling that Hoda Kotb could replace Ann Curry opposite Matt Lauer on “Today,” who knows?

A more permanent reunion for Reege and former “Live With Regis & Kathie Lee” co-host Kathie Lee Gifford — who teamed last week on “Today” for a nostalgic get-together — could be in the works at 10 a.m., if Kotb moves over to the main show.

“I never gave it another thought and all of the sudden these things are happening at NBC one day after another,” Philbin, 81, told The Post yesterday.

“I haven’t heard a word but I never thought it would come up again,” he said.

Philbin says he’s not sure what he would say if offered the chance.

But “five days a week . . . I don’t know if I like doing that,” he said.

Philbin, who left “Live With Regis & Kelly” last November after 28 years on the show, was reunited with Gifford on “Today” last Wednesday, when he subbed for Kotb. “Hoda asked me to [sub for her] and I had a lot of fun and all of the sudden things seem to be growing,” Philbin said.

Though Phiblin has been gone from “Live” for seven months, he still snared his second Daytime Emmy as Best Talk Show Host last Saturday night, along with Kelly Ripa. (Philbin won a Daytime Emmy when he hosted “Live,” solo, after Gifford left in 2000.)

But since he wasn’t in LA to pick up his award — he was in Rhode Island, watching his old pal Don Rickles perform — Reege said he wasn’t sure how he’ll actually get his statuette.

“I presume they’ll mail it to me. I don’t know,” he said. “Get to the bottom of this!”

A spokesman for the TV Academy said Philbin’s Emmy will likely be sent to him at WABC/Ch. 7 in New York (“Live’s” home studio).

“Generally speaking, we send almost all statues to the networks and rarely directly to talent unless told so,” the spokesman said.
