Trebek ‘up and about’ after heart attack

Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek was transferred out of intensive care yesterday after doctors pronounced him well enough to move around following a mild heart attack Saturday afternoon.

Trebek, 71, was said to be “up and about and in good spirits while doctors complete their testing at Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute,” according to a statement issued late yesterday.

The game-show host was moved to a regular hospital room yesterday — but no word yet on when he will be released.

Some mystery surrounds the episode in LA.

Several hours after Trebek was rushed to the hospital, at the Daytime Emmy Awards at the Beverly Hilton hotel, “Jeopardy!” was named best game show of the year.

A spokesman for Trebek said he had been at home when he had the heart attack.

But yesterday, there were conflicting accounts of whether he had been expected to attend the Emmy awards.

A spokesman for the awards said that Trebek asked for, and was sent, tickets for the show.

But a publicist for the show says he had not planned on attending.

A producer for the show went up to the stage to collect the Emmy statue for the show, but there was no immediate explanation for the discrepancy.
