Beware of stampeding Louboutins!
Fashionistas are likely to go crazy tomorrow when Christie’s auctions off more than 100 items from style icon Daphne Guinness’ personal collection of clothes and photos. The sale will benefit the Isabella Blow Foundation, which promotes British fashion and raises money for those suffering from mental-health issues.
Blow, a magazine editor and close friend of Guinness’, committed suicide in 2007. “The sale was the only practical way for me to say thank you to my friend, who I carry in my soul,” the 44-year-old beer heiress, who divides her time between London and New York, said in notes for the auction. “Issie will assume and occupy her true place in the constellation of fashion stars.”
Guinness is just as much a star — her ornate style, which blends Victorian-style corsets with avant-garde whimsy, has made her one of fashion’s most influential muses.
Pat Frost, director of Christie’s fashion department in London, gave The Post the inside scoop on some of the auction’s highlights.
