The Breindel collegiate award

A hearty congratulations to Angela N. Hunt, a talented young writer and winner of 2012 Eric Breindel Collegiate Journalism Award.

Hunt is a senior at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she has covered the military beat, which she well knows — having transferred to the school when her Marine husband was stationed at nearby Camp Lejeune.

Her writing has been “inspired by the large, and largely invisible, student veteran population” — and she quickly became editor-in-chief of campus paper The Seahawk.

The Breindel Award is sponsored by News Corp. and presented to student journalists like Hunt whose work reflects the animating passions of the late Post Editorial Page Editor Eric Breindel: the love of country and America’s democratic institutions.

Hunt has been awarded a $10,000 check and an internship with The Wall Street Journal, which she’ll take next summer.

Kudos to this promising young journalist.
