The white lion is a rare color mutation of the Kruger subspecies of lion (Pantera leon krugeri). This is due to a recessive gene. They are not albino as they do have pigmentation in vital parts such as eyes, paws and lips. Their condition is called leucism.

This mother elephant rescued her trapped baby from a watering hole after he became stuck in the mud. The devoted mom hauled her son up the side of the slippery bank using her trunk as he struggled to get back up. The month-old calf had been walking with his family herd in Cabarceno Wildlife Park, in Cantabria, Spain.
