Con Ed crew’s ‘power’ lunch at blackout site

Locked-out Con Ed union members bought lunch yesterday at a Brooklyn restaurant that was closed for three days by a power outage that non-union company workers were slow to fix.

About a dozen members of Utility Workers Union of America Local 1-2 chowed down at Bark, a Prospect Heights hot-dog emporium.

“It makes me feel bad when my customers are out of power. It only feels right to give a little back,” said idled meter reader Nicole Stone.

Besides their eat-in meal, the workers ordered another 110 hot dogs to go, for colleagues on the picket line.

“I want to show my gratitude and appreciation to them,” said Josh Sharkley, one of Bark’s owners. “This is quintessential New York.”

Con Ed is resuming talks with Local 1-2 today with the help of mediators.

Meanwhile, the utility last night reduced voltage by 5 percent in parts of Brooklyn while equipment was being repaired.
