An elderly Staten Island man was killed and his wife injured when the couple was hit by a SUV while crossing a New Dorp street last night, cops said.
Bujar Hasimja, 72, and his wife were crossing Jefferson Avenue at Mason Avenue when they were mowed down by a grey Nissan Armada at about 7:30 p.m.
The SUV stayed at the scene and no criminality is suspected, cops said.
Hasimja was dead on arrival at Staten Island University Hospital. His widowed wife is recovering with minor injuries.
