Hosp visitor, 85, killed by car

An 85-year-old man was killed on the East Side after being struck by a car while heading to visit someone at the hospital, police said.

Richard Griffin, of Staten Island, was crossing York Avenue at 69th Street when he was hit by a Jeep Liberty at about 8 p.m. last night.

Griffin, who was crossing the street to Cornell Medical Center, was taken there, where he died shortly after due to injuries sustained in the accident.

The driver stayed at the scene and there was no criminality, cops said.
