GOP mayoral candidate John Catsimatidis today unveiled the first radio ad of the campaign, touting his immigrant upbringing and the fact that he’s not a “career politician.”
The 30-second spot describes the Greek-born billionaire supermarket mogul as an up- from- the- boot straps Harlem kid who made good.
“Most importantly, he’s not a career politician. As mayor, he won’t owe anyone anything,” the narrator says.
“He’ll do what’s right for us and fight for small businesses and the forgotten middle class.”
There’s even a funny line at the end where a woman asks,. “How do you pronounce his name again?”
The “Cats” campaign said the ad will run on seven metro radio stations for at least two weeks.
In the Republican primary, Catsimatidis faces off against front-runner Joe Lhota, the former MTA chairman and top aide to Rudy Giuliani; Doe founder George McDonald and Manhattan publisher Tom Allon.
