Decorated cop suspended after punching three-year-old son

A veteran NYPD detective in the Brooklyn gang unit was suspended yesterday for allegedly punching his three-year-old son in the face, officials said.

Jason Sharp, 37, slugged his kid after a drunken fight with his wife Michelle, 38, early Saturday morning at their Bellmore, Nassau County home , according to court records.

“I had an argument with my wife and punched the wall, I had a few drinks today,” Sharp said, according to court records.

The child was hospitalized for swelling and bruising on his right eye, cheek and nose told police, “My daddy punched me in the face,” court records show.

During the argument, Michelle went downstairs to call for help because Sharp had been drinking, according to court records.

“After a few minutes I went back upstairs and found my son Connor crying with two swollen eyes which were impairing his vision and his nose and face were swollen,” she testified.

Sharp has been a cop for 10 years and has earned 14 awards during his career — 12 for excellent police work and two meritorious awards.

Sharp was charged with third-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal mischief. He has been suspended for 30 days without pay.
