Fire claims students’ artwork

Devastated seniors headed for graduation at the Pratt Institute lost dozens of pieces of artwork in a four-alarm inferno that tore through the Clinton Hill campus’s historic Main Building yesterday, injuring three people.

“It’s just tragic,” said Madeline Mikolan, 22, a senior at Pratt who lost 10 paintings to the 2:15 a.m. blaze. They were all part of her thesis and scheduled to be shown at a gallery on Monday.

“All of us were working, doing this, putting in hundreds of hours’ work — and it’s all lost in four hours.”

Emergency personnel took two firefighters to Brooklyn Hospital in stable condition. A civilian who was also hurt refused medical attention at the scene, according to an FDNY spokesman.

The sixth floor of the Main Building, which houses the senior painting studios, was gutted by the blaze, as was the roof.

“I just screamed,” said senior Rebecca Warlick, 21, who heard about the disaster through text messages from friends. “I lost 16 paintings I worked on every day for five or six hours a day. It’s unbelievable.”
