Calendar app ‘meets’ need

If you constantly use your smartphone’s calendar to keep track of upcoming meetings, you likely often have to exit it to find contact information, retrieve relevant documents or look up directions to an out-of-office event.

The Tempo Smart Calendar works to anticipate the information you need for each meeting and put it in the app, so you can call people, get directions and peruse related files without leaving Tempo.

You can sync Tempo with whatever calendar you use on your phone. You can also connect Tempo with your e-mail accounts, contacts and apps like LinkedIn and Facebook. The more Tempo has access to, the more information it can retrieve.

Tempo will then comb through your calendar, contacts, e-mail and apps to retrieve contact and location information for upcoming meetings, related documents, conference-call phone numbers and flight info.

Each of these additional attributes is designed to be accessible via tapping a button within the event entry in Tempo.

If you don’t have the exact address for out-of-office meetings, Tempo will search the information you have connected to the app and present a list of possible locations.

The app is free for the iPhone and iPod touch, but you will have to wait a while to get it.

When you download the app, you’re actually reserving a spot in line, but you should have access to the app within a week, according to Tempo’s developer.
