Facebook unveils redesigned News Feed

Investors like the look of Facebook.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg rolled out a redesign of its News Feed yesterday, describing the changes as a way to create the “best personalized newspaper.”

“There really is a place in the world for a personalized newspaper,” Zuckerberg said at an event at the company’s headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif. “How we’re all sharing is changing.”

Some of the changes mimic the look of a printed paper, including richer, bigger pictures and a cleaner design. The facelift also allows for more prominent ads, as well as a unified experience across desktop and mobile devices.

In addition, users can flip between tabs of different, targeted feeds. This allows them to find feeds free of content from brands they like but don’t necessarily want to hear from constantly.

Facebook shares rose more than 4 percent to $28.58 yesterday.
