Man who injured 5 in crowd shooting pleads guilty

Prosecutors say a man has admitted firing into a crowd of spectators and hitting five people during a fan dispute at a popular Harlem basketball tournament.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office announced that Ricardo Laing pleaded guilty Thursday to assault and weapons charges.

He lives in White Plains.

Prosecutors sought a 12-year prison term, but a judge told Laing he’d get 10. His sentencing is set for Feb. 13.

Laing’s lawyer hasn’t immediately returned a call.

The 25-year-old Laing was among hundreds of people watching the Entertainers Basketball Classic at Rucker Park in July 2012.

Prosecutors say supporters of rival teams started quarreling and Laing pulled out a gun and began firing wildly.

The victims all survived.
