16-year-old Jewish student makes bomb threat against his own high school in Long Island

A 16-year-old orthodox Jewish high-school student from Long Island has been arrested for a bomb threat on Facebook against his own school, police said.

The teen is a student at the Ruth and Hyman Simon High School at 131 Washington Ave. in Lawrence, Nassau County, cops said.

The youth, not identified because of his age, “did not like someone at the school or he had some personal problems with the school,” said Deputy Police Inspector Kenneth Lack. “It has nothing to do with Boston.”

The boy was charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony, and aggravated harassment, a misdemeanor.

The teen was arrested, but Assistant Principal, Rabbi Yossi Bennett said the school does not want to press charges.

“Even though he made a threat, we still care about him,” said Bennett. “We actually said a prayer for him today.”
