Vigil for 8-year-old Martin

BOSTON, Mass. — Hundreds gathered last night for a candlelight vigil to remember the 8-year-old boy whose life was cut short in the Boston Marathon bombing Monday.

Friends and neighbors remembered little Martin Richard as an energetic and happy young boy during the emotional service at Garvey Park in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston.

“We are saddened by the fact that he will no longer run and jump and play among us,” said Father John Connolly of St. Brendan Parish.

Martin was killed while watching the marathon with his mother and sister when a bomb ripped through the crowd.
