Mother of accused Ohio kidnapper Ariel Castro apologizes, says she is in ‘pain’ over crime

The mom of accused kidnapper Ariel Castro today apologized for her son’s alleged, despicable actions and said she’s in “pain” over the sordid crime.

“I am a mother in a lot of pain,” Lillian Rodriguez told reporters, in Spanish, through the window of a red Jeep Cherokee as she drove away from her son Pedro’s house.

“I am sorry for what my son has done.”

Ariel Castro’s brothers Pedro and Onil were initially arrested on Monday for allegedly helping Ariel kidnap and hold three young women for a decade.

But cops and prosecutors later ruled they had nothing to do with the heinous crimes and dropped all charges against them.

The two Castro were held for other, misdemeanor offenses.

Pedro, 54, was released after pleading no contest and fined $100 for an open container charge dating back to 2011.

Onil, 50, got kicked after a judge dismissed a drug charge and an open container offense that were filed all the way back in November 2001.

Neighbor Dolores Essenburg stuck up for Pedro and Onil.

“They’re real good guys,” she said of the cleared brothers.
