Cruz-ing for a bruising

The Issue: New York politicians who slammed Sen. Ted Cruz for not backing Hurricane Sandy relief.

***

It is interesting indeed that the New York Democratic Party has accused Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas of being an “extremist,” (“The Cruz Schmooze,” Editorial, May 7).

The Texas economy, under Republican leadership, is certainly much better than New York’s Democratic-run economy, and much more diverse, since many people are now moving there from other parts of America and the world in order to participate in it.

Cruz graduated with honors from Harvard Law School and was a former clerk to the chief justice of the United States.

Were Cruz espousing the philosophy of, say, radical lawyer William Kunstler, he would be lionized by the likes of Gov. Cuomo, as well as The New York Times.

The demagogues who write him off are to be disdained.

I am really disappointed in Rep. Peter King. I had been a staunch supporter until I read this.

Did he even read the Hurricane Sandy relief bill? Maybe he needs to go back and re-read it.

Cruz is looking out for the taxpayers in this country. Could it be that King is jealous that a senator is living up to his campaign promises?

King owes Cruz an apology. Until then, he can expect no backing from people like me when he is attacked.
