Two heartless thieves ripped a chain off an old man’s neck as he headed home from a pre-Mother’s Day trip to buy flowers for his deceased wife’s memorial photo, cops said.
Dramatic video shows the 78-year-old man fighting back when the duo confronted him on East Tremont Avenue near Southern Boulevard in the Bronx at 12:35 p.m. on Friday.
But the thugs overpowered the man and snatched a chain and pendant off his neck before fleeing, police said.
Narcotics Division cops who were conducting an operation in the area witnessed the robbery and quickly responded.
They caught one of the suspects at the scene. Charles Hackett,23, was charged with robbery, resisting arrest and criminal possession of marijuana, cops said.
The other suspect remains at large, and the man’s chain and pendant have not been recovered.
