Wire pol’s bid to run bugs Dems

ALBANY — Disgraced ex-Assemblyman Nelson Castro was mocked by fellow Democrats yesterday for mulling a run at the very seat he was forced to vacate in a perjury plea deal.

“What would he run for, New York’s best informant?” New York state Democratic Party co-chair Keith Wright joked of Castro, who wore a wire for the feds and turned evidence against fellow lawmakers.

Castro (right) should move on with his life and stay out of politics, said Bronx Democratic Party head and Assemblyman Carl Heastie.

“I don’t know how he could effectively serve his constituency. It’s one thing to win an election, but after everything that has happened, I don’t know how he could deal with his colleagues,” Heastie said.

Castro, 41, brushed off the criticism: “I have no control over what they do or think. If they feel I should live in fear, that’s on them.”

“As I walk down my district, people greet me and ask me to come back. That’s what has encouraged me to even consider a second run,” Castro told The Post. “I served my post as a member of the Assembly with distinction. Is there anything not to trust?”
