Pair injured in hosp fire

Two people were hurt when a mattress fire broke out at Staten Island University Hospital early Sunday morning.

The fire started on the fourth floor of the hospital at around 12:50 a.m. and FDNY officials could not confirm whether those injured were patients of the hospital or staff.

The victims are currently being treated in the hospital’s burn unit, according to a source.

Both of the individuals were listed in serious condition, fire officials said.

A hospital spokesperson could not say how the bed caught fire.
