Lauren Graham, the wisecracking yet comely star of “Gilmore Girls” and NBC’s “Parenthood,” just added author to her list of credits.
And now her autobiographical novel, “Someday, Someday, Maybe,” will be turned into a series.
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has bought the rights to Graham’s novel and plans to turn it into an hour-long drama with Warner Bros. TV (which also syndicates DeGeneres’ talk show). Graham will write the pilot script for the series.
Her book, published this spring by Ballantine Books, tells the comedic-yet-aspirational tale of Franny Banks, a young woman running out of time on her three-year deadline to land an acting job on Broadway.
It’s a story that almost any young artist — the ones without connections — can relate to.
Franny grapples with rejection, a series of incredibly tedious waitressing jobs, a deadbeat agent, two adoring roommates, bills piled up to the ceiling and a stuck-up, yet devilishly handsome, acting partner in her class.
Reason enough to live.
DeGeneres and Graham, who does not have a literary agent, are friends, and the actress has been a familiar guest on DeGeneres’ daytime talk show, “Ellen.”
Neither DeGeneres, whose show is on hiatus, nor Graham could be reached for comment.
