Starr Report

Another Starr Report exclusive:

Nickelodeon has inked a deal with a production person associated with “Dora the Explorer” to create a new animated series which they’re calling (for now), “Shimmer and Shine.”

The new educational series (no premiere date yet) will center around the magical adventures of two genies — twin sisters Shimmer and Shine — and their human best friend, Leah.

In the series — created by Farnaz Esnaashari-Charmatz, who works on the “Dora” production team — whenever Leah summons the genies with her special chant, they arrive on a magic carpet to help Leah in her dilemma with three wishes per day. The granted wishes often go awry, resulting in “crazy adventures,” according to a description of the show. But once Leah has made it through her dilemma, even with the genies’ sometimes questionable help, she comes up with “a non-magical way to fix her problem.”

Today, Jewelry TV (JTV) will announce that it’s launching its “Dynasty Jewelry Collection,” which features jewelry based on the ’80s prime-time soap headlined by Joan Collins.

The jewelry “combines the retro look of the show with a modern twist that appeals to fashionistas today,” according to the network, so who am I to argue?

The “Dynasty Jewelry Collection” will debut on JTV tomorrow at 2 p.m.
