Parrot tells cops his owner was driving drunk

This parrot sang like a canary.

A motorist in Mexico was busted on a DWI rap after his loudmouth parakeet snitched on him, chirping in Spanish, “He’s drunk, He’s drunk!”

Traffic cops pulled over Guillermo Reyes, 49, at a routine alcohol checkpoint in Mexico City last week, according to the Spanish-language newspaper El Universal.

Reyes stepped out of his blue Chevy for the sobriety test — but before he could take it, the bird squealed.

“Está borracho, Está borracho!” it squawked.

Officers discovered the teensy tattletale had been telling the truth after Reyes failed the test, the paper reports.

The parrot was jailed along with Reyes after animal-control officers noted the two had a close bond — and feared the bird wouldn’t survive without his owner.

The two spent at least one night in the slammer together.

The parakeet is green with a little orange patch above his beak. His name wasn’t reported.

Cops first thought the bird’s voice had come from a human.
