‘Lean’ times as Weiner woos gals

Anthony Weiner keeps borrowing a feminist buzz phrase in his bid to woo female voters on the mayoral campaign trail.

The phrase, “lean in,” exploded in March with the publication of Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg’s workplace manifesto, “Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead.”

Weiner has dropped the line all over the city of late.

“If we lean in to the tough decisions — dedicated to reform — we can recommit ourselves to the spirit that has driven New York for generations,” he wrote in the intro to his policy book, “Keys to the City,” released in April.

At a transportation forum last week, he said, “We always have to lean into reform.”

In a recent interview, he said, “I’m really trying hard to let things come to me a little bit more and be less about leaning into every element of my life.”

His campaign staff said his use of the phrase has nothing to do with female voters.
