‘Below Deck’ crew deals with drug dilemma

When deckhand Kat Held signed on to work on the Honor, a mega-yacht, she never imagined she’d be involved in a potential drug bust.

On the boat’s maiden trip, Held discovers a pile of white powder, a rolled up dollar and a little baggie.

This is her dilemma: If she tells her boss, the passengers could get into huge trouble, and she and the crew could be held responsible if law enforcement checks the boat. If she keeps quiet, she and her fellow crew members still get their massive tip — up to $1,000 — and the weekend-long charter trip will continue.

Welcome to Bravo’s new reality show, “Below Deck.”

The series, which premieres Monday, follows the eight crew members of the Honor, which docks at the Caribbean Island of St. Maarten.

Held, 28, grew up in the small town of Warwick, RI. She went to the University of Rhode Island, where she got a degree in communications studies.

“I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my degree; I knew I wanted to travel and get out of the state and challenge myself,” she tells The Post.

Held says she never encountered a situation like the one in the premiere. The crew never outright says that the white powder was cocaine, and we don’t see cops getting called in. The passenger who hired the yacht conveniently introduces himself with the pseudonym “Johnny Eyelash,” and he and his party don’t remove their sunglasses during the episode.

Held eventually informed a senior crew member, who told the captain. He turned the yacht around and asked the crew to leave the boat.

Fellow crew member Eddie Lucas supported Held’s decision.

“If we were boarded by [an] enforcement agency, and they found the powder, we all could have been in a lot of trouble,” he says. “I’m proud of the way she handled that.”
