The Bronx

A 64-year-old woman, described by a neighbor as “quiet and gentle,” was beaten to death with a hammer in her Norwood apartment.

Police showed up at Magda Dagostino’s building on Perry Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check and found her in her bedroom with severe physical trauma.

“Someone from Florida was trying to contact her all day and they asked a neighbor to check,” said building super Andres Perez.

“She was a good woman,” he added.

A hammer was found in the same room as the body and is believed to be the murder weapon, police sources said.

There was no sign of forced entry, and Dagostino did not appear to have been robbed.
