Amazon guns for families

Ceo Jeff Bezos wants American families to go to the Amazon.

The world’s biggest online retailer added to its PG-13 content yesterday, setting an expanded licensing deal with PBS Digital. Terms weren’t announced.

Amazon.com’s PBS package will include hundreds of TV episodes in its Prime Instant Video streaming service, with such PBS Kids shows as “Caillou,” “Arthur” and “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.”

“This deal is exciting for Prime members and particularly for those with families,” said Brad Beale, Amazon’s director of digital video content acquisition.

Earlier this month, Amazon inked a deal with Viacom for Nickelodeon’s “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Dora the Explorer” and “Blue’s Clues.”

The PBS pact also provides past seasons of such shows as “Nova” and “Masterpiece” as well as Ken Burns’ documentaries.
