Losing revenue Upstate

The Issue: Gov. Cuomo’s deal with ‘Casino Oneidas’ to erase nearly millions in backtaxes owed to the state.

Thank you, Claudia Tenney, for speaking out about this rotten and, it seems to me, illegal deal (“A Rotten Deal With ‘Casino Oneidas,’” PostOpinion, May 29).

I wrote to our Oneida County legislators pointing out some of the many problems with this “settlement,” to no avail.

Every day we learn a new truth — or scandal — regarding the Democrats. We’ve now learned that Gov. Cuomo’s commissioner for general services had a husband who practically had a monopoly selling liquor in “Turning Stone,” while the Assembly committee she chaired oversaw the Alcohol and Beverage Control Board.

We have also learned that Cuomo will graciously waive hundreds of millions of dollars in tax money for politically connected casino owner Ray Halbritter. Just like upstate Indian tribes avoid paying taxes on cigarettes, alcohol and now gambling.

And who do you think will make up the difference? You and me — the politically unconnected.

Since Cuomo has been governor, he has held up fracking, expanded abortion laws for purely political motives, held an unconstitutional vote on his own gun-control bill and now ignores his lawful obligations in the Oneidas case.
