Betty White’s ‘Cleveland’ show moves to Russia

If Betty White lives long enough, she can travel to Russia and do a cameo on the first foreign adaptation of “Hot in Cleveland.”

The TV Land comedy about a quartet of middle-aged (and older) women who find new prospects in the Midwestern city of Cleveland is easily adaptable to Russian life with its pronounced differences between country and city life.

The Russian version debuts July 29 and follows the fortunes of a group of friends from Moscow who travel to a small town and decide to settle there.

In addition to White, the TV Land production stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, adaptations of CBS sitcoms such as “The Nanny” and “Everybody Loves Raymond” have registered with Russian audiences.

White, 91, has found a second career as an in-demand TV star.

Her NBC reality show, “Off Their Rockers” — which ran for two seasons and was recently cancelled — was preceded by her Emmy-winning turn hosting “Saturday Night Live.”
